Saginaw Radio: Joe Volk Exits Z93 After 25-Years

Joe Volk of the long running “Joe and the Poorboy” show is no longer with WKQZ 93.3 FM, his co-host, Adam Shilling, said Monday.

The Joe and the Poorboy show is no longer listed on Z93’s main website. Listed under “shows” for weekday mornings from 6 to 10 a.m., the normal Joe and the Poorboy time slot, is “Z93 … Relentless Rock.”

The WKQZ Wikipedia page states “As of August 22nd, 2016 Joe Volk, the lead performer of the “Joe and the Poorboy” program, is no longer employed by the station or its owner Cumulus Media. No reason for his separation has been announced yet.”

The Midland Daily News reports many people have posted to the Z93 The Rock Station! Facebook page seeking an explanation.

“I do believe someone there owes morning show listeners an explanation to what’s going on. You have a lot of loyal people that listen every morning, That now don’t know what to think,” one post reads.

In April, Cumulus parted ways with the Johnny Burke and Blondie morning talk show, which aired on WHNN 96.1 FM. The decision resulted in lawsuits on both ends.
